Frequently asked questions

We're here to help with any questions you have about plans, pricing, and supported features.

What is Sound Credit, and why should I use it?

Sound Credit is the simplest way to upload, manage, and listen to your audio and video from anywhere. It’s a one-stop platform to organize your files, credits, and projects, share them with collaborators, and keep all your recordings in one place. Sound Credit's streaming-style playlist interface lets you audition tracks easily, giving you and your team the perfect way to stay connected during the creative process.

How is Sound Credit different from Dropbox or SoundCloud?

Generic file sharing services like Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and WeTransfer are clunky and inefficient for collaboration, often requiring multiple clicks to switch between tracks. And email attachments are even worse: just don't. SoundCloud focuses on public streaming, while Sound Credit is built specifically for private, secure, and professional studio workflows. Sound Credit offers seamless sharing, reviewing, commenting, and approval features for your team. And it is styled like a modern music service playlist, to reflect the eventual public listening experience.

What does Sound Credit do with credits?

Sound Credit is also the ultimate tool for capturing, managing, and utilizing music credits as your project evolves. It helps you ensure your credits are accurate and complete, making them ready for export to industry systems like ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN, SoundExchange and more.

Your credits remain securely within your account, giving you full control to organize, reference, and manage your catalog. When you're ready, you can choose where to send them using 18 export formats. Each export gives you live feedback tips to make sure that your information is accurate and ready for its destination.

For all of the ways your data is used across the industry, Sound Credit captures it accurately while you're still in the studio, saving you time, reducing errors, and maximizing earnings.

Can I use Sound Credit for free?

Yes! Our free plan provides 1 GB of storage, the ability to upload up to 3 tracks, and generates a free Creator ID and ISNI code—essential for making sure that you are credited, discovered, and paid. It’s a perfect starting point for organizing and sharing your projects. There's no payment information required to create an account.

Is my data secure on Sound Credit?

Yes. Your files are fully protected with TLS/AES 256-bit encryption. You control your shared playlists with password protection or link-based access, and you get detailed listener and location analytics. You maintain complete control of your content at all times.

What file formats does Sound Credit support, and can it handle large files?

Sound Credit supports a wide range of file formats and is designed for music and media creators who need flexibility and reliability. You can upload any file type (including DAW session files and other docs) to Sound Credit for sharing and storage, while playback and preview features are specifically optimized for certain audio and video formats:

For audio, the platform supports streaming of lossless .wav files (the same file uploaded with no transcoding, same bit/sample rate, on compatible web browsers) and lossy .mp3 files (mp3s are transcoded to 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz).

For video, Sound Credit accommodates .mp4, .mkv, .mov, .webm, .flv, .wmv, and .avi files, offering seamless playback through a built-in player that enhances collaboration on visual projects.

For images .jpg and .png files are supported for image previews when sharing playlist links.

Sound Credit is also built to handle large files, making it easy to share single tracks, full albums, or even Dolby Atmos files without size limitations, empowering creators to collaborate without constraints.

Why is Sound Credit better for collaboration?

Sound Credit combines simplicity and power into a complete studio collaboration platform. You can upload and stream files instantly, creating a professional experience for collaborators or clients. Your team can easily give feedback, approve mixes, and suggest credit additions. Unlike other tools, Sound Credit's playlists emulate the final listening experience. All of this has a streamlined workflow, saving you time and keeping everyone on the same page.
